One day,
the words I have sent you
will disappear
eaten by the grasshopper
that now passes...
If not by this one
perhaps by another.

His hunger will devastate
every page of my life
every drop of my memory,
leveled by chance or fate,
every tear and each smile
taken to face oblivion
even the remembrance of you.

I have kept you hidden from others,
as if you were, somehow, forbidden
like the lines of this pagan poetry
so deeply and greedily revered
within the layers of myself
secretly guarded under my thorns.

Yet,
the grasshopper, stops
as if by accident he has learned
to read between clovers and leaves
as if he understands
the ink beneath my sleeves
that slowly floods the earth.
